I had a fantastic opportunity this week to sit down for a chat with Lynn Lyons, the co-author of one of the most popular books on the topic of anxiety for families – Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents: Seven Ways to Stop the Worry Cycle and Raise Courageous and Independent Children.

Lynn is a world renowned anxiety expert, and during last year’s Positive Parenting Conference, she and I recorded a very popular masterclass about helping our kids manage their anxiety. I reached out to her to check if she could help us apply some of the ideas we discussed last year to our own anxiety in the face of the Coronavirus crisis and she was gracious enough to make time for us in spite of a super busy schedule.

In this conversation Lynn and I talk about:

  • why we can’t seem to stay away from news even though we know it will only make us more anxious
  • how to manage the anxiety we find ourselves in
  • why asking “what’s the worse that can happen?” is not the best thing to do
  • how to be playful with our anxiety
  • and so, so much more!

I hope you find as much value in this chat as I did!

NOTE: For another amazing interview with Lynn where we discuss helping kids with their anxiety, check out the Positive Parenting Conference 2019 recording package containing 16 life-altering masterclasses, available now for a limited time for 70%!

This was a fun conversation to listen to 🙂 thank you Lynn and Sumitha. I appreciated the reminder on rumination and how it stops us taking action and I loved the work with Edith that was discussed practically and usefully.
    Take care
