Last month our focus was to stop yelling at our kids. It’s a habit that takes some time to master. Hopefully by reading the articles and by trying your own little experiments at home, you have come to a realization that it is do-able. And hopefully it isn’t as much an effort now at it was at the beginning and you can continue to work on it while starting on a new skill.
The whole of last month was a little about looking at the dark side of parenting – how to prevent an explosive situation, how to handle a situation that has started going downhill, how to not yell even when you are hopping mad etc. I want to counter it this month by taking on the challenge to be positive – in our communication, our attitudes and our discipline techniques.
As I put together the articles that will go up this month, I realize that we can barely scratch the surface of this vast topic in one month. And yet, I am filled with a strange sense of excitement as I can see the huge potential and the amazing returns we can expect. I hope you will choose to join me in this little experiment of getting into the positive mindset. As you read along, please remember to try things out in your own home, so you can see the returns in your own family, instead of just reading about my journey (what’s the fun in that?)
This page will be a placeholder for all the articles related to this skill as we go through the month. I will publish the first article today along with this page, and then update this page every Monday as a new article is published. For any reason, if you cannot play along just yet, you may want to bookmark this page so you can come back to it later. The most effective way to ensure that you don’t miss any articles is of course to sign up for the free weekly email notifications.
Ok, here we go –
